Artist Biography
JISBAR
Jean-Baptiste Launay, better known as Jisbar, is a French pop-street artist born in 1989. He lives and works in Lisbon, Portugal. Jisbar's works are offbeat and parodic reinterpretations that blend art history and pop culture to create a new narrative. Combining symbols and words, realistic and instinctive techniques, he draws inspiration from movements such as pop art and street art to offer a rich and plural artistic vision. His creations, teeming with details, present several levels of interpretation, inviting the viewer to explore the work, to fully immerse themselves in it and discover all its subtleties. From New York to Paris, from Taipei to Milan, via London and Dubai, Jisbar's works are exhibited in the best galleries around the world. His art has also been presented in renowned museums, such as the "Mona Lisa" exhibition, organized by the Louvre Museum in collaboration with the Grand Palais Immersif, and at the Musée national de l'histoire de l'immigration in Paris. Jisbar is also known for his performance tribute to Leonardo da Vinci, on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of his death, during which he sent his own reinterpretation of the Mona Lisa into space. The painting floated 33.4 km above the Earth for more than an hour and a half. This technical feat was widely acclaimed and covered by international media. Each of these projects has been an opportunity for him to create unique and unforgettable experiences.

PEARL

The torn and fragmented look of the design embodies the idea that destruction leads to creation. Each torn piece reveals visual and textual layers, blending classical portraiture, pop art, and street art. This elegant and timeless reinterpretation of Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring contrasts with the raw kraft paper in the background, recalling the aesthetic of torn posters and the raw energy of urban art. This fusion of classicism and modernity, sophistication and chaos, reflects the very essence of JISBAR's universe, where art constantly reinvents itself through layering and transformation.
